Kai Grazing with Friends

Kai stood at the far end of the meadow peacefully picking at clovers until their roots pulled from the ground and into her powerful, slowly chewing jaws. Slowly she munched and lifted her head to hear the sounds of the grass swaying in the wind the munching of others.

[Gloaming]

Gloaming ambled towards the mare. She was large, and so he kept his head low, ready to snake her off should she show any hostility. He flicked his tail and tossed his head. His paranoia regarding others, especially those obviously stronger warring with his search for a nice patch of grass to sun and roll in.

Hearing the sound of footsteps getting closer, Kai raised her head up to see a stallion, who bared many scars. She could tell he fought a lot, but made nothing of it. Instead, she swished her tail back in forth to show she was friendly and of no threat.

She looked at him again and said,"Hello, I'm Kai".

Cyclone walked along silently when he spotted Kai and the strange stallion. He flattened his ears, unsure. His beautiful palomino coat shone like gold in the sun with his white patches. His dark eyes studied the scene before him.

Ember was grazing beside Kai and paid no attention to the two stallions.

Kai whinnied and tossed her head in a welcoming gesture. She was always happy when more horses were around. She stepped away from the grassy patch she was eating from and offered it to the two other horses, whose names, she didn't know yet.

She, unknowingly, bumped into Gloaming. She lowered her head to say sorry, and grazed in the new spot that she stood.

Cyclone cautiously made his way towards the other horses. He had seen Ember before but never Kai or Gloaming. His deep eyes studied them. "Don't worry," Ember said as she walked over to him. "Kai is nice." Her chestnut pelt gleamed like fire in the sun as she moved back to where she was. Cyclone still remained tense.

Kai tossed her head, saying 'come on over' towards the new stallion.

"Hello, I'm Kai and this is my friend Gloaming. We are peaceful grazers and wouldn't harm you."

Ember smiled reassuringly at the palomino stallion. Cyclone walked over cautiously. "I am Cyclone," He told Gloaming and Kai who didn't know who he was.

Ember started to graze.

Kai lowered her head to graze and grunted as she ripped glass blades from their roots with a sharp snap. Her tail flicking away flies, making a whooshing sounds as they slap the sides of her back legs. Then she began to trot around in circles, giving a small leap and a kick every now and then to show her happiness. She reared, gave a small whinny, and stomped the grass with a thud, and lowered her head as she sniffed it. Suddenly dropping onto her knees and rolling around in the grass. She gently sat there for another 10 minutes and in the spot she sat, very pleased.

Sparrow stood on a rise of a hill a bit away. She watched the other horses as they frolicked and grazed together. She looked longingly but made not move toward the group. She just sat and watch, and suddenly started grazing, keeping an eye on the horses, making sure they made no move toward her.

Jaguar trotted closer to the group. He looked them all over and seemed satisfied before he started to graze, soaking up the sun with his raven coat as he would pick up his head a look around with hard eyes that were almost the color as his own gleaming coat.
